If you have your Bible, please turn to Deuteronomy chapter 6, that great chapter in the Scriptures as Moses gives his last three sermons to the people before they went into the Promised Land and before Moses went on to glory.

Well, we've been in a series for the last several weeks called "Love and Marriage." And we've talked about various things in this series. We kind of kicked the series off with talking about how do you find the right person. And the way you find the right person is by being the right person and trusting God and continuing to let your heart be softened by Him, and delight yourself in the Lord and He'll give you the desires of your heart. Then we talked about God's plan for marriage from the Book of Genesis and how God created Adam and created Eve for Adam, and how He created marriage to be so wonderful. And then, last week we talked about what do you do when you lose that lovin' feeling in marriage. How do you keep the fires burning, so to speak? And today, we want to talk about parenting and how to have a happy home. I've entitled this message, "Families that Flourish." Now, the word flourish is an interesting word. It means "to grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as a result of a particularly favorable environment." That's what God desires for the home to be with mom and dad and kids. He wants that to be a particularly favorable environment. He wants it to be a place where there is love and joy and peace and patience and kindness and faithfulness and goodness and gentleness and self-control; against such things there is no law. That's what He wants home to be.
