The year was 1964. In September of 1964, a song was recorded by a group called The Righteous Brothers. I don't know how righteous they were, but that was their name, The Righteous Brothers. And they kind of went out on a limb recording this song that had been written for them, and they weren't quite sure how that was going to go. And it ended up being a song unlike very many other songs. This song, recorded in 1964, was awarded in 1998 as a song that was worthy of the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2001, this 1964 recording was ranked number 9 in the list of songs of the century. And in 2004, the same recording was ranked at number 34 by Rolling Stone Magazine in their list of the five hundred greatest songs of all time. Many of you are familiar with this song. It's obviously not a new song. It's the song, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling." Here are the words:

You never close your eyes anymore
when I kiss your lips
And there's no tenderness like before
in your fingertips
You're trying hard not to show it, baby
but baby, baby, I know it
You've lost that lovin' feeling
Oh, that lovin' feeling
You've lost that lovin' feeling
Now it's gone, gone, gone
Wow, wow, wow, wow

Now, that song is called "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," and it describes so perfectly what happens in so many marriage relationships. As Family Life used to say, we start out throwing the bouquet, and then, in not too many years, we're throwing in the towel. And couples get divorced because they say, "Well, we have irreconcilable differences. I've lost that lovin' feeling. I don't love this person like I once did."

Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond sang a song, some years later, and that song said, "You don't bring me flowers anymore. You don't sing me love songs." And she's talking to him, and he says, "Well, you hardly talk to me anymore when ...
