Love & Marriage: Doing Family Life God's Way
If you have your Bible, please turn to Psalm 37. We're beginning a brand-new series of messages today that I've entitled, "Love and Marriage."
Now, many of you will remember Love and Marriage was the title of a song that Frank Sinatra sang. He recorded it August 15, 1955. The lyrics say this: "Love and marriage, love and marriage, they go together like a horse and carriage. This I tell you, brother, you can't have one without the other. Love and marriage, love and marriage, it's an institute you can't disparage. Ask the local gentry, and they will say it's elementary." Well, it's an institute today where people disparage it. But God created love and marriage before He created anything else. Before He created government, or schools, or founded the church, He created the institution of marriage. He said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable to him." He caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and performed the first surgery. Took out of Adam's wounded side some flesh and bone, and He fashioned this creature known as Woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman, for she was taken out of man. And for this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked, and not ashamed." Everything was so wonderful at the end of Genesis chapter 2. From not good for the man to be alone to very good.
Now, God wants to make our marriage, our families very, very good. He wants it to be on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the worst, 10 being the best, He wants it to be a 12. God wants you to have a great marriage and family. And so, we're going to be talking about how to do that. How can you do marriage and family God's way to get in on the blessings th ...
