INTRODUCTION:
If there is one thing that we are not short of-we are
not short of excuses. You have websites that help you
come up with excuses for everything. They will give you
excuses for missing school; laying out of work; overdrawn
bank accounts; calling off your wedding; excuses if you
forget something, and a score of other things.
[Parents sent some excuses to school with their children.
Most of these excuses were interesting and had misspelled
words...]
*Please excuse my son from P.E. for a few days.
Yesterday he fell out of a tree and misplaced his hip.
*Please excuse Ray Friday from school. He has very
loose vowels.
*My son has been absent because he had two teeth taken
out of his face.
*Please excuse my daughter for missing school
yesterday. We forgot to get the Sunday paper off the
porch, and when we found it Monday, we thought it was
Sunday.
*Please excuse my son for being absent yesterday. He
had diarrhea and his boots leak.
One person called in to work: "I developed an alternative
personality last night, and it said not to go to work."
One person text her boss: "Not feeling well. I ate too
many beans last night...will explain later."
*A woman in New Zealand had been driving for 25 years
without a driver's license. She explained to the judge who
fined her and gave her excuse: 'I only drive on roads that
have very little traffic, and none of those roads lead to an
office where I could apply for a driver's license'.
There is no shortage of excuses. Most of the time,
people have their mind already made up as to what they are
going to do, even if it means coming up with "excuse";
thinking that it will relieve them from their responsibilities.
[There is a difference between 'a reason' and 'an excuse'.]
