How would you respond if God were to appear in this room right now? Would you run, hide, stand up, bow down, sing, shout, celebrate or die of shock?

I don't want to trivialize the presence and the power of God, but I thought this illustration might get your attention: I read about a woman who in years gone by encountered her favorite movie star, Paul Newnan, at her local Ice-cream store. He was filming a movie in the area and had come in for an ice-cream cone. Seeing him there, she felt lightheaded. He was after all, the most handsome man she had ever seen.

He was in line in front of her and turned and smiled at her. She could barely speak to order her treat, fumbling in her purse for her money. She smiled at him as she left the store, breathless and flushed. However, when she walked out, she realized that she had forgotten her ice-cream. She turned to go back in, and he was standing there at the door. Again, she couldn't even talk.

He asked, "Are you looking for your ice-cream?" She nodded. He smiled and said, "You put in your purse after you paid for it." Have you ever been left breathless in someone's presence? This morning, we are going to direct our thoughts to the omnipotence of God.

In the first message on this great Psalm, we considered God's omniscience. God knows everything. He doesn't have to learn anything. You cannot tell him anything He doesn't already know. In that message I said that the Scriptures teach us that God knows our words before we speak to them. He knows our thoughts before we think them; and He knows our prayers before we pray them. He also knows every idol word we speak; and He knows everything we do, even those things we do in secret.

In the second message on this Psalm, we spoke about God's omnipresence. We mentioned that he can be everywhere at the same time and that neither death, distance nor darkness can hide us from Him presence. And ...
