Title: Gone Fishing
Author: Jesús Rodríguez
Text: Matthew 4:17-20 - NIV
Introduction
Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the second half of 2024! We continue to believe that this is our season of expansion and growth!
Thank you for joining us this week! This month of July, we have dedicated to evangelism (although evangelism is an everyday occurrence here at Habitation).
I believe the Lord wants to mobilize the entire church to do the work of the evangelist.
We have titled this series "Faithful Witness."
Today, I have titled this message "Gone Fishing."
I believe that God has a word of action for Habitation Church today!
I want to start this series by asking, "What does it mean to go fishing?"
Let us go to the book of Matthew 4:17-20. I will be reading from the NIV version.
After, we are going to jump to Acts 1:8.
Let us read:
(17) From that time on, Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."
(18) As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
(19) "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people."
(20) At once they left their nets and followed him.
Matthew 4:17-20 - NIV
(8) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 1:8 - NIV
Prayer: Father, use this word to awaken your people. In Jesus' name, amen!
What is Jesus asking us to do?
Jesus is calling his disciples to follow him. He wants them to help bring people to God. This is like fishing for men.
Milk: We are called to go fishing!
(18) As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
