Author: Dr. Darrow Perkins
Text: 1 Kings 17:8-12
A Sermon Preached by the Rev. Dr. Darrow Perkins, Jr., Th.D., D.Min.

On the Occasion of Mother's Day
INTRODUCTION
In the workplace, any job or position you get, you can quit if you get tired, fed up, or sick of that job. People and circumstances can get you to that point, and you decide that "enough is enough" and you can walk away from it when you had enough.
Even in the church setting, there are pastors who are walking away from the ministry at an alarming rate because of the pressure, because of the conditions, because of the overall weight of the ministry and not enough people getting behind and coming alongside the pastors to do kingdom work. Believe it or not, pastors are people too who have feelings and emotions too!
But there's at least one job or position that is a lifetime assignment and that assignment is that of a mother! I understand the accept the sovereignty of God that not all females will be mothers, but those in whom He's allowed the joys and responsibility of that position go into it with the understanding that it's a lifetime duty and responsibility. No matter how old the child gets, the mother is still the mother and will continue to do so until God calls her home to receive her rewards.
I'm mindful of the fact that there are some people in here whose biological mothers are no longer on this side of eternity, and truth be told, no matter how many people come into your life and be there for you, nobody, and I mean nobody, can replace you momma. The reason for that is because your biological mother is A Mother Till The End!
