Text: 2 Samuel 9

This means this Sunday is Palm Sunday -
Jesus begins in Bethany/Bethphage and sends disciples for a donkey
Matthew 21:1-3, Mark 11:1-3, Luke 19:29-31

The disciples bring the donkey; Jesus mounts it
Matthew 21:6-7, Mark 11:6-7, Luke 19:32-35, John 12:14-15
Jesus rides it, fulfilling Zechariah 9:9.

Jesus begins descent from the Mount of Olives
Luke 19:37, Mark 11:1, Matthew 21:1
This route leads toward Jerusalem, giving a panoramic view of the city.

As He nears the city, Jesus stops and weeps over Jerusalem
Luke 19:41-44

The crowd begins to shout "Hosanna!" and lays palm branches and cloaks
Matthew 21:8-9, Mark 11:8-10, Luke 19:36-38, John 12:12-13

Pharisees object to the praise; Jesus responds
Luke 19:39-40 If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

Jesus passes by the Garden of Gethsemane (at the foot of the Mount of Olives)
John 18:1, Luke 22:39

Jesus crosses the Kidron Valley
John 18:1 (same pathway referenced later)

Jesus enters Jerusalem through the Eastern Gate
Matthew 21:10, Mark 11:11, Luke 19:45, John 12:12

He enters the Temple and looks around
Mark 11:11

Jesus returns to Bethany for the night
Mark 11:11

The reality is the path of palms became the path of grace.

This is the day that leads to God's Amazing Grace

2 Samuel 9 David now wants to show his gratitude and keep the covenant he made w/ Jonathan Saul's Son.
