Introduction:
We are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ this morning! This is our Sonrise Easter Service, and we have a beautiful morning for it! Notice the crosses and that white piece of cloth which signifies that Jesus is risen! He is not here, but He is risen as He said! Come and see where He lay was the angel's response to those who came to Jesus's tomb early in the morning! Thank God we are on the winning team this morning! He is risen Amen! We had better get started for I can smell that delicious breakfast that is being prepared for us to go devour!
There were a couple of disciples that had not heard about the resurrection of Christ and they were walking down the Road to Emmaus downtrodden and sad! Their hope and joy had vanished into thin air because they had watched Him die on the cross, and probably had seen Him buried in a borrowed tomb! With that in mind, let us see what Dr. Luke wants us to see here.

13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
These two disciples were sad, and broken hearted. They were grieving over the death of a very special loved one that they had known! If you have ever lost someone special to you, you can just imagine the feelings that were going through them as they walked down the street! They are walking about threescore furlongs which is about seven miles! That would have been a pretty good walk for the average person that would take a couple of hours!
14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
They must have discussed all the torture and the beatings that Jesus survived until He gave up the ghost on the Cross of Calvary at about three in the afternoon! They probably thought of the plucking out of His beard, and the Crown of thorns being pushed down into His scalp! They p ...
