Title: The Journey Begins
Series: The Gospel of Mark: A Journey With Jesus
Author: Jim Perdue
Text: Mark 1:1-15
-You're going to hear a lot over the next few months, open your Bibles to the Gospel of Mark. You might want to go ahead and take your bookmark and put it right there because we'll be here awhile. I'm starting a series through this book called, A Journey With Jesus.
-*So today, we begin a journey together. What do you do when you begin a journey? First, you need to know your destination. What's the goal? Where do you want to end up? If you start a trip without knowing where you're going it won't be very productive. You might have a lot of activity with very little productivity. Beyond that, you will need a map to guide you every step of the way. For us, the Word of God, and specifically the Gospel of Mark, will point us in the right direction. When you prepare for a trip, you need to make sure to bring the right supplies and pack appropriately as well. If you're headed snow skiing, you'll need some different attire than if you're going to the beach. So, how can you prepare for this journey? First, bring your Bible!
That's the textbook we use each and every Sunday. Also, we have now provided our notes sheet as an insert in your bulletin. With these sheets, you can get a small notebook at the Welcome Center to save your notes each Sunday. Of course, you'll need a pen or pencil to fill in the blanks and add other notes. As always, you can use our Church App as well. We want to make it as easy as possible to listen to God's Word, take notes as we study, and apply the truth to your life. So, that's how you prepare for this journey!*
-Today, we'll start with Mark 1:1-15 with a sermon called, The Journey Begins.
