-*Recently, someone gave a $100 bill to our church. And it was a counterfeit bill. Don't get me wrong, the person knew it was counterfeit and we knew it was counterfeit. So, it was all a joke. But let me tell you what I did once I saw that counterfeit bill. First, I thought, these days this might buy me lunch at Taco Bell. Or maybe even a combo meal from Chick-fil-A...but don't get too crazy. Then, angered by the counterfeit, I went down to my local bank and said, "I'm sick and tired of counterfeit money. This is the last time I'm deceived and tricked by money.
Counterfeit money crushes the dreams and hopes of people." So, I withdrew all of my money from the bank; emptied out our checking account and our savings account. Got every bit of money we had and piled it up in the backyard and lit it on fire. Got the whole family around and we even had s'mores and everything! Do you believe that? Of course, you don't believe that!
You're not so disillusioned by counterfeits that you'll burn up your real money. But how many people got disillusioned and disgusted with a church or a pastor or maybe some other ''Christians'' in their job, or maybe their prayer life and a prayer wasn't answered just like they thought they should, and God didn't do exactly what they wanted to do, and they got disgusted with it all and got disillusioned and said, you know what, we're done with it. And so they lumped it all together and they just wrote off God. And they wrote off the bible and they wrote off the gospel and wrote off the church and wrote off Christians and said, "we're done with it." Sadly, I've seen people do that time and time again.*
