Text: Mark 3:1-21

-*Today, there are all sorts of ideas and opinions about who Jesus is. There's an old parable about five blind men who had heard of an elephant but had never encountered one themselves? One day, they all went out to find an elephant. Once they found it, they reached out to explore and understand it. Each man came to a different part of the elephant. The first blind man reached out for the elephant's trunk and said, "The elephant is like a snake, long and winding!" The second man, touched the elephant's ear, and disagreed, "No! It is more like a giant fan, with its broad, flapping shape." The third man felt the elephant's leg, "Yeah right!

The elephant is clearly similar to a sturdy tree trunk, massive and strong." Then, the fourth, found the elephant's tail, laughing, "No! It's more like a thick rope, with its swaying motion." And finally, the fifth, man pushed against the elephant's side and said, "You are all wrong! The elephant is like a solid unmovable wall." They continued to argue.*

-To me, this is how our culture responds to Jesus. It's like blind people groping in the darkness trying to feel their way to truth. And they can only experience a small part of the truth but it's all they know. So, it's all they think there is.

-That's why it's so important to come to the Word of God. It opens our eyes to the realities of who Jesus is, what He said, and what He did for sinners. It is only through God's Word that we will really come to know Jesus. Today, from Mark 3:1-21 we see several responses to Jesus; and several ideas and opinions about Jesus.
