In 2004, a new word was birthed into the English language. It actually started in 2004, and it was put into the dictionary in 2013. It was an acronym that became a word people used. Many of you know what it is. The younger crowd started with it - Fear of Missing Out, FOMO. Has anybody ever had FOMO, Fear of Missing Out? I remember my daughter, Amy, used this in a text thread with our family. Debbie was in Houston, and I kept calling them to see what was going on. And she said, "Dad's got FOMO." I was like, I'd better go to the doctor for that one. What is FOMO? Fear of Missing Out. You feel like there's a big party going on somewhere, and you're not there, and you're missing out.
There was a college student, Patrick McGinnis, a Harvard Business School student. He came up with that term, FOMO, and it's defined as this: "The anxiety that an exciting event may currently be happening elsewhere, and you're not there, so you're missing out."
Now, I think that in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ there are lots of people missing out. But they're not really fearing the fact that they're missing out. They don't understand that they're missing out, but they are missing out, nonetheless. They are missing a great blessing from God that He promises in His Word. Just as we sang, "Lord, we believe for it." Well, God has a promise in His Word in the Book of Malachi for those who will trust Him. As we sing that song, "Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey." And it has to do with trusting Him in the realm of finances.
Now, wouldn't it be horrible to have the experience of passing away. And you go to heaven, and you're being toured around heaven. And St. Peter shows you a big warehouse. He takes you into this warehouse, and he takes you to an area, and you ...
