- We are studying the Gospel of Mark on Sunday mornings. It's a sermon series I've called, A Journey With Jesus. Today, we come to Mark 5:1-20. And I'm preaching on this subject - Jesus Can Set You Free.

- *Believe it or not, the history of the whole world is a tale of two kingdoms. Some of you are history buffs. You could list all of the major dynasties throughout the history of the world. Actually, Pastor Jim, there have been multiple kingdoms throughout the history of the world. You've got the Egyptian Empire, the Mesopotamians, the Roman Empire, Ancient Greece, Babylon, not to mention China, along with the Byzantine period, and the Medieval Kingdoms. Then, in more modern times, there's the British Empire, and even the Russian Empire. And if you are a student of world history and knew all of this information, technically, you would be right. But you would still be wrong. Here's why: the history of the world is a tale of two kingdoms and two kingdoms only. You see, on one side, you have the kingdoms of this world. They all fall into one category. And on the other side, you have the Kingdom of God. The only Kingdom that will last forever. On side, you have the kingdoms of this world. They are all about worldly treasures, prestige, and power. But God's Kingdom is about something greater, something much bigger. God's Kingdom gets to the heart; to the souls of people that will last forever. If you build your life on the philosophy on the world's kingdoms, you will build on shaky ground. It's like building a sandcastle during high tide. It might look impressive for a little while, but sooner or later, it's going to get washed away. But if you build your life on God's Kingdom, it's like having a rock-solid foundation for your life - something you can build on no matter what life throws your way.
