- We are studying the Gospel of Mark on Sunday mornings in a sermon series called, A Journey With Jesus. Today, we come to Mark 5:21-43 and I'm talking about Divine Appointments.

- *I'm sure you know what an appointment is. You're supposed to be somewhere at a certain time. And, if you're like me, being on time is important. I'll even add a reminder to my calendar app on my phone to make sure I don't forget. Here's a good definition of an appointment - an appointment is something the doctor doesn't have to keep but you do! Just kidding. If my doctor is listening, I don't want it to be extra painful the next time you draw blood.*

- *I once read a story in a magazine of an atheist who loved nature and had gone on a hike on a nature trail. As he kept admiring the scenes around him, he lost track of the trail and when the time came for him to get back, he realized that he was hopelessly lost. So, for the first time in his life, he prayed to God. He did come out alive eventually, and was relating the incident to some friends. At the point when he mentioned about his prayer to God, one of the friends asked, 'Well, how did God answer your prayer'? The unbelieving man replied, 'Well, before God could answer the prayer, a guide came along and led me to safety!'Sadly, the man couldn't see God's hand in the answer! It was not the way he thought God should answer.*

- How many times do you think that has happened to me or you? God shows up and intervenes in a miraculous way and we don't even notice. I'm sure that's happened more times than I care to count.

- Jesus never missed a divine appointment. He was never late; He was always on time. Even if others felt like He was running behind, He showed up exactly when He was supposed to.
