Introduction >
No one becomes a Child of God by accident; meeting
Christ is a Divine Appointment. Jesus is the One who
sets up the situation [Divine appointment] to give us the
opportunity to believe on Him and receive Him into our
heart.
Through the pens of the Gospel writers, we are
given the opportunity to hear the Cries from the Cross
from the Lord Jesus. In these verses, we hear Jesus giving
one man what his heart desires.
In His second cry from the Cross, we hear a Promise
of Salvation, a promise spoken to a man that prior to that
moment had little hope of anything, but a just and earned
condemnation.
When one of the thieves on a cross said to Jesus
[v.42]-
"Lord, Remember me when Thou comest into Thy
kingdom" he was revealing what God has placed in the
hearts of all people. This man was desperate to know
something about where he would spend eternity.
*You see, in [Ecclesiastes 3:11] we are told that God has
"set the world in" a person's heart. [This means that God
has set "eternity" in our heart.] We have a divinely
implanted awareness that our souls will live forever.
This man at the close of his life revealed what is the
most important decision any one can make. Where are you
going to spend eternity? Who do you want to spend
eternity with?
There are only 2 places for a person to spend
eternity. There is a place called Heaven, and there is a
place called hell. We will spend eternity somewhere.
I have only met 2 people who told me that they were
going to hell when they died, and they seemed to be okay
with it. But Jesus never meant for life to end that way.
Jesus did not intend for us to be separated from Him for all
eternity. Jesus came to die for our sins so that we may trust
Him and receive Him as our Savior.
Most of the people that you will meet want to go to
Heaven when they die. They believe in Heaven. They seem
