Author: Brian Mills

Thank you for being here to reflect on what JESUS did for us on the Cross

Reminder invite someone to join you either

-Saturday (put on screen all happening Saturday)

-Sunday

Tonight I want to do something unique and just read the story of the Gospel to you today.

I want to remind you of the story of Easter...

Jesus has his last supper with his disciples (John 13-17; Mt 26:20-35; Mark 14:12-26; John 13:1-30)

Then heads to the garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46; Mark 14:32-42; Luke 22:39-46; John 18:1)

-Went to pray
-Not preach
-Not Worship
-Pray

Jesus knew that the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak so he prayed so fervently that he sweated drops of blood.

It is here we see JESUS get arrested Matthew 26:47-56; Mark 14:43-52; Luke 22:47-53; John 18:2-12

-Not just arrested but betrayed by one of his own Judas.

This is about Midnight of Good Friday that leads into 6 trials JESUS is about to Face.

Trail 1 (Midnight) before Annas - John 18:12-14, 19-24

He goes before Annas - the father-in-law of Caiaphas.

-The old high priest - Jesus should have never gone to him

This is where Jesus first went under persecution.

QUICK NOTE: Brutality was never allowed in the courts - yet w/ Jesus it was.

-Under the law, no prisoner had to undergo Preliminary examination. That is why Jesus said to him in John 18:23 "If I said something wrong,"... "testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?"

Jesus is saying what you are doing is illegal.

Trial 2 (2-3 am) John 18:24 - Then Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest (Matthew 26:57-68; Mark 14:53-65; Luke 22:54, 63-71)

A large portion of the ruling Jewish council (70+ men) is gathered

They search for testimony to put Jesus to death

The high priest confronts Him, but Jesus offers no defense

Caiaphas Directly Questions Jesus (Matthew 26:63-64, Mark 14:61-62, ...
