INTRODUCTION
Take your Bibles and turn with me to Luke Chapter 6. This morning, we are moving out of the kiddie pool and into the "BIG" pool - with the big boys and girls of the faith - as we pick back up in our series of studies on stewardship that we began last Sunday morning.
As I've shared with you many times before -
February is for finances at Abilene!
This February, we're looking into and learning some tremendous, life-changing principles: Embracing Stewardship and Experiencing Abundance, founded in a statement from the lips of the Lord Jesus that He gave in the context of relationships in Luke 6:38. Listen to it.
Luke 6:38, "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
Now, there are a lot of pastors and preachers who would say that you can't preach stewardship from this verse. Again, they say this is dealing with relationships - loving your enemies, not judging, and so on.
I don't believe Jesus ever wasted a word. I think He could put the hay down where the calves could get to it while at the same time stretching the most mature of believers.
Our God is a relational God.
If you'll read your Bible, you'll see that truth repeated over and over again. And since that's the case, as Creator, He has woven into the warp and woof of our universe powerful, practical principles that apply to every area of life.
-Our relationships.
-Our jobs.
-Our education.
-Our time management.
-Our stewardship of our bodies,
-And yes, for our finances.
