INTRODUCTION
Take your Bibles this morning and turn with me to the Old Testament book of Esther. (That's
right after Nehemiah, just before Job, in the first half of your Bible.) Esther chapter 7, as we
continue in our series of messages through this unusual but essential book of the Bible.
It's a book where the name of God is never mentioned. Still, it's also a book that is vital for us
to understand how God worked to protect His covenant people, the Jews, from annihilation
so that the promise that Messiah would come through His covenant people Jews could be
fulfilled.

Example: I'm not a game person. I've told you before - there are two types of people in the
world: Game people and normal folks. Now, I know that some of you love your games. You
live for Game Night at your house. God bless you. I love you, but I've never really been a game
person. (For one, I'm too competitive, which hurts my testimony. Secondly, I can't sit still for
that long.)
But I do remember growing up, going to church at the First Baptist Church in Milan, TN when
there would be those Sundays our Sunday School teacher got through his lesson a little
quicker than he expected, so we would play games on the chalkboard to take up time until
the buzzer buzzed, and we were let out to go to Big Church. We played games like Tic Tac Toe,
Dots and Boxes, and Bridges.
Question: How many of you remember those games? (LK and Jon were actually playing Dots
and Boxes Friday night at the restaurant.)
