INTRODUCTION
Take your Bibles this morning and turn with me to Esther 8. We are quickly concluding this
unique and special book of the Bible where we've been seeing how God moves and works
and accomplishes His perfect plan and purpose - not so much out where everybody can see
it, but in the shadows, underneath the surface, behind the scenes of what is taking place in
our lives.

I pray this series has been as big of a blessing and encouragement to you as it has been to
me.

Example: A good friend called me this past week and shared what God had shown and
taught him in last Sunday's message. He shared how when we first began this series, he
wasn't all that into it - it just really didn't excite him all that much - but that over the past
couple of weeks, while watching how God worked in Esther's life - even though she likely
didn't even realize it at the time - God was using it all to save the lives of His covenant people
to fulfill His promise that the Messiah would come from Abraham's children, He would be
born "...of the house and lineage of David."

- That's why this book is in the Bible.
- That's why this book matters.
- That's why the story of Esther is so significant.

Oh, the reader and writer in me love this captivating story with plot, drama, characters,
conflict, and climax that draws you in and grabs your attention. I just love it!

It's true this is a book about a woman - one of only a few books written about women in the
Bible. And it's always good to get a different perspective on things and connect with our
ladies.

And, for sure, great principles here can help us live our lives as Christians in a world that is
increasingly hostile to God and the things of God.

But the main reason this book is in the Bible - and I'm shocked that Luther, and others
couldn't grasp this truth - is to show us what God did and how God worked to save His pe ...
