INTRODUCTION

Take your Bible this morning and turn with me to Philippians Chapter 1. This morning we're continuing our series called "Big Questions, Bigger God."

In this series, we're not running away from the hard questions - we're leaning into them. Because behind every big question is a deeper longing:

- for truth,

- for hope,

- for meaning.

We've already asked -

- "Is there life after death?"

- "What happens when I die?

- "Is there really a Heaven?"

This morning we're asking a question that cuts right to the heart of our everyday life: "What's the meaning of life if it ends in death?"

That may sound like it's a philosophical question, but it's really a personal one. It's a question people ask -

- At funerals,

- During crises,

- And in quiet moments alone with their thoughts and doubts.

Now, here's the hard truth we've got to face: If life really does end at death-if there is nothing more-then nothing ultimately matters.

- Success doesn't matter.

- Sacrifice doesn't matter.

- Even love doesn't matter.

- If death is the end, it means death dies with it.

Without Jesus, the search for significance leads to a dead end.

You might live for -

- Pleasure,

- Popularity,

- Possessions,

- Or power-but all that's temporary if life ends at death.

Quote: As one modern thinker put it, 'If death is just the end, then life is a short story that ends in a period-with no sequel, no hope, and no meaning.'

But Paul gives us a better way. A better hope. A truer purpose.

- Maybe you've asked it.

- Perhaps someone you love is asking it right now.

- "What's the meaning of life if it ends in death?"
