Title: David's Repentance (16)
Series: Crowned and Grounded
Author: Brian Mills
Text: 2 Samuel 12, PS 51

We could say today 2 Samuel 12 is all about When God loves you too much to let you stay in your sin.

Last week, we left David in a mess.
The man after God's own heart...
The shepherd boy who defeated giants...
The anointed king who led with courage and honor...
Now found himself as the Adulterous King,
The Murderous King,
The Cover-Up King.

What a fall.

Remember I said this last week...
Sin always takes you further than you intended to go, keeps you longer than you planned to stay, and costs more than you ever wanted to pay.

What we'll see today is that while David hid from man, he could not hide from God.

This week-we don't turn the page lightly.

We open to one of the most sobering and grace-filled confrontations in all of Scripture:

When God sends Nathan.

With Nathan comes the TRUTH and when truth walks into the room, hearts are exposed.

Let's talk about what happens-

2 Samuel 12
1 The Lord sent Nathan (Key prophet in David's Life) to David.

Now David probably had been carrying the weight of this SIN for about a year at this point.

David never initiates repentance on his own.
-Just hides it
-Covers it up
-Acts like it never happened.

Acting like nothing happen

His Baby was born, and he had his 8th wife.

But life was not NORMAL. It was not like it had always been and David knew it.

Remember last week I said... God Is Displeased with Our Sin - But Not Done with Us

We find God not being done w/ David right here...

God sends someone to David to confront him.

God ever send someone into your lie to confront you?
Here is what I love though... God Pursues Us Even in Our Sin - God is not done with us because of SIN.

David tried to cover his sin for nearly a year.

But God didn't give up on him.

SEE... God sends confrontation to David not to crush him but to restore him.
